Combining mind-body techniques that work to balance the skin, the Mukralepa Ayurvedic Facial at Stellar Spa, Corte Madera, CA, employs specially blended herbs and oils to cleanse, exfoliate, detoxify, and nourish the skin. Originally reserved for Indian royalty, the Mukralepa begins with a dosha analysis to determine any imbalances, and follows with an aromatic foot soak; an Amla juice helps with digestion and relaxation. This 90-minute facial concludes with a Shirodhara, an ancient therapy involving a soothing oil drip on the forehead area known as the "third eye," and facial marma massage. (Marmas are pressure points on the body; a marma massage targets those points.)
