American Spa Magazine: In Touch Business Expo-nential rewards, Stellar Spa strives to keep its VIP clients happy.
To reward its tip clients for their patronage, Stellar Spa (Corte Madera, CA) came up with a clever marketing move during a brainstorming session five years ago that has exceeded expectations and become a highly anticipated annual event. Held last fall, Stellar Spa’s Health & Beauty Expo attracted approximately 250 people. The spa invited its VIP clients to attend the one-night event, which included complimentary mini spa services and the opportunity to sample and learn about new products. New to the expo last year was its educational format. Renowned speaker, John Gray, Ph.D., author of Men are from Mars, Women are from Venus (Harper Collins, 1992), served as the event’s special guest. The spa also had a palm reader on hand.
To keep cost down, the spa had a local firm carter the event in exchange for access to the spa’s high-end clientele. According to co-owner Patrick Vande Weg, every year more people express interest in attending the expo. As a result, the spa is looking to expand the event by holding it in a larger conference space and opening it up to more community involvement. “It sounds like a lot of work,” says Vande Weg, “but, it’s well worth the rewards when you look at the client feedback.”
